Magna Recruiting was founded by attorney recruiters who wanted to do something different.  Our mission was simple: to treat our candidates' job search as we would treat our own job search.  Magna Recruiting's original founder, Melanie Neale, was a candidate herself at one time.  When she left her former firm, Fulbright & Jaworski, to make a lateral move, she found that the attorney recruiting industry was severely lacking in high caliber recruiters.  When she became a recruiter herself, her goal was to bring a new standard to recruiting.  After years at another recruiting company, Melanie decided to form her own recruiting company to further those goals.  Melanie's high standards in recruiting has continued on with Magna Recruiting.  You should expect nothing less from your recruiter.  To speak with one of our attorney recruiters, please feel free to contact us at your convenience.

Our methodology

As former attorneys ourselves, we understand how time consuming a job search can be.  Our methodology when working with a new candidate is to make the job search process as efficient as possible so that the candidate is not overwhelmed by the job search process.  The search process when working with us involves the following stages:

1. Initial Meeting.  Our initial meeting involves a candid, in-depth discussion regarding your work experience and career goals.  If you are unsure of your career goals, our recruiters are experienced career counselors who can help you develop a strategy. 

2. Resume Preparation and/or Editing.  As our recruiters have prepared countless resumes and reviewed thousands, we have the experience to make sure your resume is top-notch.  If you do not have a resume, we can help you prepare it.  If you already have a resume, we will help you edit it so that it will further enhance your experience and strengths. 

3. Opportunity Evaluation.  We will provide you with a written list of available opportunities, including details regarding the positions and the firms and/or corporations.  We will help you evaluate these opportunities to determine which ones are in line with your career goals.

4. Interview Preparation.  Preparation is critical to out-shining your competition.  We will make sure you are well-prepared for your interview.  For example, we will also provide you with examples of excellent interview questions to ask (and to not ask).  We will also conduct a mock interview with you so that you will feel more confident on the day of the interview.

5. Post Interview Analysis.  This is usually the hardest stage of the job search process.  We work closely with the employers to obtain feedback from them as soon as possible, sometimes within one day.  We also communicate your feedback to the employer as soon as possible.  We find this really helps speed up the process.

6. Offer Evaluation and Negotiation.  Once you have received an offer, we will help you determine whether it is a satisfactory offer.  If not, we will facilitate any negotiations of the offer.  This is an important service offered by Magna Recruiting as candidates often feel uncomfortable negotiating themselves.

7. Follow up.  Once you have accepted the offer, we will help you with any issues that may come up.  For example, we have even helped our candidates find housing when they have moved from out-of-state.  We are also there for you when you start your position.  We understand that a new job can be exciting but also challenging.  We will always be there for you whenever you have questions or concerns.

Our focus is simple: find attorneys jobs with the best law firms or corporations.  Our focus is twofold.  First, we assist law firms and corporations find talented attorneys.  We have the resources to assist firms and corporations find attorneys throughout the United States with offices in Los Angeles, Denver, Houston, Dallas, Washington DC, and New York.  We will soon be opening an office in London, England.  Second, we help attorneys find jobs at law firms and corporations.  Because of our connections to law firms and corporations, attorneys can be assured their resumes will be in front of the right people.

Our global reach is unmatched.  As law firms and corporations become more global, so too is attorney recruiting.  Firms now seek attorneys with specialized backgrounds and experience.  It is not uncommon now for a Hong Kong firm to seek a U.S.-based attorney.  In reverse, we consistently work with attorneys who want to move either across the country or even across the world.  Magna Recruiting prides itself in being a global leader in attorney placement.  Our focus on attorney placement has enabled us to create extensive contacts with employers throughout the world.  Because we have connections to law firms and corporations throughout the world, we are able to assist attorneys with any type of job search.
